Harnessing the Sun to Extract Oxygen on the Moon
Scientists are working on a project to extract oxygen from the Moon's surface using a process called carbothermal reduction, which utilizes the sun's energy. The Carbothermal Reduction Demonstration project has successfully produced carbon monoxide in a test using a solar concentrator and mirrors. The goal is to produce oxygen on the Moon's South Pole.
