NASA's Psyche mission approached Mars for a gravity assist from May 2 to May 15, 2026, capturing images of the planet as a thin crescent. The spacecraft's unique approach angle caused Mars to appear lit by sunlight reflecting off its surface. The images show the crescent of Mars growing as the spacecraft drew closer.
