NASA is developing technologies to extract resources like hydrogen and helium-3 from lunar soil to support long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars. This capability, known as in-situ resource utilization, enables explorers to use available resources on other planetary bodies. NASA is working with industry partners to advance this technology.
