Quebec language laws now require all 2026 hurricanes to be named “Jean-Pierre”
Quebec has introduced a new language law requiring meteorologists to name all 2026 hurricanes "Jean-Pierre", instead of using the list of names provided by the US National Hurricane Center. This change is intended to promote the use of the French language in Quebec. The law applies to all named tropical storms.
