Canada's government has announced a major new defence partnership, including the procurement of Saab's GlobalEye aircraft platform, which is expected to support 3,000 jobs in the Canadian aerospace and defence sector. The government has also launched new initiatives to transform defence procurement, including a modernised Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy and a Strategic Partnership Framework. At least one-third of the projected fleet of GlobalEye aircraft will be manufactured in Canada over the next 15 years.
