Prime Minister Mark Carney secured new defence partnerships at the 2026 NATO Summit, including agreements with Telesat and Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, and announced investments to strengthen Canada's defence industrial capacity. Canada also agreed to open technical negotiations to join the NATO Innovation Sub-Fund and will host the 2027 NATO Industry Forum. The Prime Minister launched negotiations with Germany and Türkiye on strategic partnership and free trade agreements to deepen trade and commercial ties with NATO Allies.
