Prime Minister Mark Carney secured new partnerships in defence and critical minerals at the 2026 G7 Leaders' Summit, including 13 new partnerships with over eight countries through the Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance. These partnerships are expected to unlock over $5 billion in capital investment for Canadian critical minerals projects. Canada also imposed new sanctions on Russia, targeting 162 individuals, entities, and vessels in response to its ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
