NASA's MAVEN mission has made the first discovery of a unique atmospheric effect at Mars, where charged particles are squeezed in the planet's atmosphere. This phenomenon is similar to one that occurs in Earth's magnetosphere. The discovery was made using data from instruments aboard the MAVEN spacecraft in December 2023.
